Graduate Geologist
Location: Tumbler Ridge, BC
Peace River Coal Inc. (PRC) is a subsidiary of the Anglo American PLC Group located in North East BC. We are currently accepting resumes for the position of Graduate Geologist.
This role is a geoscientist graduate entry role and will cover most aspects of coal geology in both the mining and exploration environments. The role will also expose you to field work, mapping, exploration drilling, production geology, development and maintenance of geological databases, geological modelling and various aspects of coal quality. It will also include administrative duties and compliance to all safety, health, environmental and regulatory requirements.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assist with the planning and execution of geology projects and exploration programs
- Assist with the core logging, in pit sampling and bulk sampling, ensuring proper handling and tracking of samples
- Assist with the checking and analysis of coal quality data
- Check coal seam and borehole survey data
- Reviewing, structural interpretations and coal seam correlations from mapping and drilling results
- Monitoring of geological data to ensure that proper QC and QA are maintained
- Data management for mine geology or exploration drilling including entry, validation, integrity and storage of data
- Generating and updating of maps in Arc GIS or AutoCAD and ensure proper data storage and housekeeping
- Assist with geological reporting and report writing
- Development and monitoring of standards and procedures
- Provide assistance with general administrative duties where required and any other duties as assigned by line management
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Earth Science
- Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is preferred
- Experience in geological data management will be beneficial
- Experience in computer tools such as Excel, Work, Powerpoint, Arc GIS or AutoCad and geological computer modelling systems will be advantageous
- Excellent report writing skills
- Valid drivers licence is a requirement
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with experience will be offered to the successful candidate. The Company operates a non-contractual incentive bonus scheme, the payment and level of which are discretionary.
